LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested three suspects after finding drugs and a weapon during a Sunday afternoon traffic stop.

At around 2 p.m., troopers saw a gray Nissan Altima traveling on Sussex Highway with five young individuals in the back seat. When troopers made contact with the driver, 28-year-old Jason Talley of San Francisco, CA, an odor of marijuana was detected inside the vehicle. Troopers also made contact with the passenger, 24-year-old Tabius Cannon, who originally gave police a false name. 24-year-old Cameron Patterson and four other juveniles ranging in age from 6 to 11 were sitting in the back seat.

When police searched the vehicle, they found approximately 912.75 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. At this point, Cannon took off on foot, but was apprehended a short time later after being found hiding in parked vehicle behind a residence on Broad Creek. A further search led police to find a semi-automatic pistol and a magazine containing three rounds. It was learned through a computer check that Cannon was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

All three suspects were subsequently arrested.

Talley was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, second degree conspiracy, making false statement, possession of drug paraphernalia, passenger occupy seating position, and failure to have license in possession. He was held at SCI on $85,150 secured bond.

Cannon was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, third degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, second degree conspiracy, resisting arrest, making false statement, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third degree criminal trespass. He was held at SCI on $109,100 secured bond.

Patterson was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, second degree conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at SCI on $74,050 secured bond.
