DOVER, Del. (AP) — With final approval from the Delaware Senate, bills legalizing recreational marijuana use by adults and authorizing a state-licensed and regulated cannabis industry are on their way to Gov. John Carney for his signature.
Tuesday’s votes could prompt a battle with the Democratic governor, who vetoed a legalization bill last year. One bill would legalize personal possession by those 21 and older of up to one ounce of leaf marijuana or equivalent amounts in other forms. The other bill would authorize 30 retail marijuana licenses, 30 manufacturing licenses, 60 cultivation licenses and five testing licenses.
Carney’s office said he continues to have concerns about legalization.
