Fight at High School Football Game Leads to Arrests

The Delaware State Police have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male of Lewes, DE and a 17-year-old juvenile male of Rehoboth Beach, DE for resisting arrest and related charges following an incident at a high school football game Friday night.

On October 21, 2022, at approximately 7:45 p.m., troopers working security at the Cape Henlopen Football game, located at 34384 Vikings Way, Lewes responded to a fight. Upon encountering subjects fighting, a 16-year-old suspect charged at troopers and a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation, one trooper was struck in the face by a second suspect. Ultimately, both suspects were taken into custody. The 16-year-old suspect continued to resist arrest while being escorted to the patrol vehicle. Additionally, troopers detected an odor of alcoholic beverages and signs of impairment on the suspect. The 17-year-old suspect also resisted arrest but was successfully taken into custody. Troopers located approximately 17.46 grams of marijuana in his possession.

Both juvenile males were transported back to Troop 7 where they were charged with the following:

16-year-old suspect: Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Underage Consumption of Alcohol.  The 16-year-old juvenile was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and released to a guardian.

17-year-old suspect: Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Hindering Prosecution, Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer and Possession of Marijuana.  The 17-year-old juvenile was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released to a guardian.
